How we handle your data
We treat your data with great care. Data protection is important to us, and we actively ensure the protection of your data within the applicable legal framework.
This means:
- We collect data only for the intended purposes, i.e. only the data that are necessary for the respective purpose (e.g. sending out newsletters, registration for events).
- We do not pass on any data to third parties without your explicit consent.
- We store and process data on servers in the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (USA) only when necessary. We hold data processing contracts with these providers which ensure that your data is processed in accordance with Swiss data protection law.
Registrations for events
We use Google Forms for event registrations such as the monthly staatskantine. For this purpose, the data you enter is stored on a Google server in the USA. You can find the Google privacy policy here.
Newsletter
We send a biweekly newsletter to subscribers, in which we provide three links with short descriptions of our own articles, articles by third parties, or other interesting news. Upon registration we collect your email address, your first name and your last name for sending and personalizing the newsletter. This data will only be used for the purposes of the newsletter.
A “double opt-in” is necessary for registration. This means that in addition to entering the data, the e-mail address must be confirmed by clicking on a link in a corresponding e-mail. This ensures that you cannot be signed up to the newsletter by somebody else . It is possible to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time without notice and without giving a reason. Just write an informal e-mail via our contact form or click on the “unsubscribe” link at the end of a newsletter.
The newsletters are sent via "MailChimp", a newsletter dispatch platform of the US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. The e-mail addresses and other subscribers’ data described here are stored on MailChimp servers in the USA. MailChimp uses this information to send and evaluate the newsletter on our behalf. MailChimp also uses this data to evaluate the performance of and to optimize our services. The data will not be given to third parties or used for marketing purposes. MailChimp is also certified under the US-EU data protection agreement "Privacy Shield“ and is committed to comply with the EU data protection regulations.
By using MailChimp we automatically agree to the "Data Processing Addendum" (DPA), which means that MailChimp commits itself to complying with the EU data protection regulations. This protects our subscribers’ data and ensures it is not passed on to third parties. The privacy policy of MailChimp can be found here.
